Here's something we don't see everyday: homebrew on the Wii, and this one promising to perform something that Nintendo's been keeping mum about. Yes, it's Team Symbiote's unexpected entry into the Wii homebrew scene, with their very own Wii DVD Player in its toddler stages, or beta 1.0.
So, what does this piece of homebrew goodness actually do? Well, it's a DVD player program, so it should very well let your Wii play DVDs. And seeing as this is the first time it's appeared, let's take a look-see at what the NFO contains:
Sorry to all the people that we had no real chance to credit, there were heaps more that worked on this but i really dont want to keep this on my computer much longer in case it goes missing forever, everyone will be correctly credited on the next release.
...please help us make this better, if you want to help us and have skills to offer then please contact us through www.symbiote. org. Linux, C, and ASM all welcome.
Instructions: Burn with clone CD, Boot in modded wii with homebrew based mod programmed with YOASM 1.8 (I used a wii-boss). When menu comes up then the hit "z" to unmount, change disc to DVD movie and hit "start" to play.
Seems simple enough, right? As for the controls, it's pretty much the same. Pressing Left or down rewinds, right or up fast-forwards, A is play, B is stop, X turns the subtitles on and off, and Z unmounts the DVD. As always, please read the NFO in the archive file first before doing anything, as incorrectly installing or executing homebrew applications can cause bricking.
