Life's a b1tch. It's such a tease. Because right now, I'm thinking two things: 1) I should have waited for the MacBook Pro instead of getting a PowerBook, and 2) I wish this app could run on my PowerBook. Until my new battery arrives, my PowerBook is a disaster waiting to happen. And so, an app like smcFanControl v1.1 from Hendrik Holtmann is a godsend.
It allows you to control your internal fans manually to cool down your MacBook Pro. It also has an "auto-apply launch" feature so that you don't have to manually set it over and over again after every restart. Here's waht's new in v1.1:
* Support for MacMini (intel) added * Start hidden/in background option added * Option to sync sliders on MacBook Pro for easier control * Window position is now remembered * Bugfix: Fan #2 on MBP could not be controlled seperately * Bugfix: Changes in keychain-access to prevent crashes
See? Now if only I can use this on my PowerBook, I wouldn't be much of a sour grape. You MacBook Pro users sure are lucky.
