File Description
If you've been hankering to play Doom on the road, you'll be happy to know that coder/developer stepwhite who also worked on the iphonenes has already ported it to the iPhone. The game appears to be running perfectly, but is still unplayable in its current release.
It is unplayable because there is no controller support for the game. The problem is that stepwhite has no ideas on what control scheme to implement as of yet and is asking for suggestions (which you can post through our Read Link). If you want to install it just to see it work, the developer gave a few things to keep in mind:
WAD files go in /var/root/Media/Doom . If the app quits immediately after launch, there was probably an issue with the wad file. If you're using the shareware wad, make sure it's named doom1.wad . If that doesn't help, execute the app from the shell so you can see the printf()s.
This port proves that it is possible to run Doom on the iPhone. Once the developer finds a suitable control scheme for the game, then we'll be playing Doom in no time.
