File Description
It's been a while since we last heard a peep out of EatEm, the fl0w-like Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew game from homebrew developer Slasher. It was fun and addictive, sporting a very unique and awesome visual style - but it never really offered anything else besides, well, eating glowing orbs with your own glowing orb. Now, not only do we get a completely updated version of the game that sports improvements all around, but also multiple game types AND an original soundtrack! Sweet.
So, what's new with this version of EatEm - or should we say, Orbid? While the Alpha build of the game offered a bare-bones game of gobble the glowing orb, Orbid mixes things up with there additional modes that give variety to the orb-snacking.
First, there's Time Mode, where you have to eat as many orbs as possible before the timer rounds out. Then there's Survival mode, where you can be just as easily devoured as your prey. And finally, there's Mine Mode, where exploding mines are scattered around the game map. You'll have to be careful in making your way to them thar delicious orbs, lest you stumble upon a mine and blow yourself up.
Here's the control scheme, taken from the readme file:
Menu
* X to accept * TRIANGLE to go back * LEFT/RIGHT/UP/DOWN to navigate
Game
* START to pause game * ANALOG - Move player around
Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew developers Slasher and Madsoul have definitely outdone themselves this time. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have the Mine Mode to dominate, as well as the game's soundtrack to trip out to. Enjoy!
