Akop Karapetyan, also known as uberjack here at QJ.NET, has just released a new update to fMSX, a homebrew MSX emulator for the Sony Playstation Portable. Bumped up to version 3.4.5, fMSX for the PSP now comes with high resolution rendering support, as well as changes in save states and toggle options for MSXSOUND and MSXMUSIC engines.
The developer discussed the plan to implement these features before, and thus uberjack has delivered, if only with certain conditions. First, MSXSOUND and MSXMUSIC can be toggled on and off, but for performance reasons, you can only enable one or the other.
Also, high-resolution rendering (512-pixel rendering support on 245-pixel screen) will marginally increase image quality in certain respects, but will eventually slow down emulation. For this matter, the engine should only be enabled when image quality is a must. Otherwise, text-80, screen 6, and screen 7 modes will do well with the default 256-pixel render mechanic.
