Download World of Warcraft Type Links
File Description
This mod lets you link items you dont have and cant see. It also lets you search for items so you dont need to remember or type the full names, and can easily view sets of items.

To search for items, you use the syntax /tl searchstring and the mod will produce links in your local chat window to all items containing the text searchstring in their name. searchstring is case sensitive.

For example, typing into a chat window

/tl Riven

would display a list of links to all items that have Riven in their name.

You can also search by level range, rarity, location and type. The full syntax is

/tl r=rarity:n=minlevel:x=maxlevel:t=type:l=location:searchstring where

rarity = u, r, e or l for uncommon, rare, epic or legendary items
minlevel = the minimum level of items to include in the search
maxlevel = the maximum level of items to include in the search
t = the type of the item (eg Shields, Polearms etc)
l = the location of the item (eg Leg etc)
searchstring = the string you are searching for

Note that type, location and searchstring will all partially match, so a type of 'One' will search all One handed weapons. Note that type, location and searchstring and rarity are all case sensitive.

For example

/tl t=Two:Riven searches for all items with the string Two in the type and with the text Riven in the item name

and

/tl n=50:x=55:r=r:t=Two:l=Finger:Riven searches for all rare items of between level 50 and 55 with the text Riven in the item name, with a type containing the text Two and a location containing the text Finger

The types and locations only allow a few strings to make valid searches, and these strings are case sensitive. To see a list of valid types and locations use the /tl types and /tl locations commands.

Note that many items dont have a level range - particularly quest items. There is an option (/tl show for options) to enable and disabled their inclusion in level based searches. By default, they are included.

In addition you can display a link to a single item in chat directly if you know the full item name. The syntax is [*itemname*]. itemname is case sensitive.

This syntax makes it simple to inline links into your chat messages. For example to show a link to Quel'Serrar and a Skullflame Shield one could type into a chat window

'Hello, I dont have [*Quel'Serrar*] or a [*Skullflame Shield*], but would really like both' and you will display a message with the correct links in the correct places in the chat message.

The same syntax also works in macros, which makes advertising easier.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT LINKING
----------------------------
The WoW client does not allow linking to items that the server has not seen since it last restarted. This is to prevent data mining of items.

TypeLinks supports two linking modes. One, the default, is called safe linking and will only produce a link if that item is in the current players local item cache. If the item cannot be found in the local cache, the name of the item will be displayed in a slighly lighter color to the default color, (ie light blue for rare items) to make it clear this is not a link. The square brackets are also removed. Note that you cant send coloured text as a chat message, so the coloring is disabled in [* links.

The second mode will attempt to produce a link irrespective of whether or not the item is in the players local item cache. This link may still work if the item is in the server's item cache, but if the link is in neither cache, but is in your local typelinks databases, mousing over it or saying it will cause your client to disconnect!

In both cases if the item is not in your typelinks database, then the link cant be displayed anyway. Then the item is just returned as the user entered string.

The best way to build up links is to do a search and then shift click items in the search results into your next text message (new feature in WoW 1.6 client), or inline items with [* if you know the full name.

ITEMS DATABASE
--------------
The items database used to generate the links is added to dynamically by auto parsing of all chat messages. Any items TypeLinks doesnt know about that it sees in a chat window are added to the database. A message is displayed in the chat window each time an item is added.

SLASH COMMANDS
--------------
/tl will display help text in the console
/tl show will show the ui for enabling and disabling safe linking and other options
/tl examples will display a list of example searche syntaxes
/tl locations will show a list of the valid location strings to search on
/tl types will show a list of the valid type strings to search on

DISCLAIMER :P
-------------
This mod uses code from ItemMatrix to read an item matrix database, and the database of items from Derkyle, and was inspired by Relinker. If any of the authors have any objections to my using their work, please post here and I will remove it. If not, thanks. :)

Careless use of this mod can get your client disconnected from the server. Its not my fault!
