Windows XP users who happen to own an iPhone can now experience the same freedom that their Mac siblings have been enjoying with the latest release of the iphone-dev team's WinPwn 2.0. Designed exclusively for the PC platform, the new version of the XP-based iPhone jailbreaker supports both firmware 1.1.4 and 2.0, and is compatible with the new iPhone 3G. In addition, it also includes custom image and custom payload features.

The developers noted that there were problems reported with Windows XP users trying to install Cydia on their system. They promised everyone that a fix will be available by tomorrow when the new update is finally rolled out.

In the meantime, people will have to make do with this current build. However, before copying any files into your PC, please make sure that you remove any previously installed version of WinPwn on your system before trying out the new one. Also, you'll need a copy of the latest version of iTunes (version 7.7) to get WinPwn 2.0 to work.

Here are some detailed steps on how to install the latest build WinPwn into your PC:

1.First create a custom IPSW using the IPSW Builder.

2.Click "Ipwner" and browse for the custom IPSW that you just created. This will pwn itunes and allow you to flash Custom IPSW files via DFU mode

3.Once you have pwned Itunes, put your phone into DFU mode. If you don't know how to do this click Here.

4.Once you are in DFU mode Itunes will pop up and then you can hold shift and click restore and browse to your custom IPSW file.
