Last July, a Homebrew contest for the best Rubik's Cube program was set by DevsGen. The prize for said contest is US$ 500. Here are the four entries from four French programmers. Please note that these programs do not come with a readme file so users are advised to use the apps with caution.
The fourth programmer to submit an entry was Quadrizo. This program may be the most different of the four, employing a "mirror" concept that lets you see the cube from different sides all at once.
The program also employs a ring that indicates which row you are currently turning. The size of the cube can also be extended to have a 4x4 or 5x5 grid. The program can also change the "stickers" on the cube to have a different image, even one with numbers on it (described as a kind of Sudoku approach).
