Here is another example of a fractal. I don't know about you but this geometric wonder here is really beautiful. What is it, you may ask? It's a mathematically complicated figure which can be approximated in clouds, lightning bolts and snow flakes. Dev TheMagnitude has worked to let you create fractals with your stylus and Nintendo DS with the homebrew Fractal Junkie v1.0.
Fractal Junkie version 1.0 is an improved version of Mandelbrot Fractal version 2.0 from coder TheMagnitude too. The latest build contains seven color pallettes and three color styles for more vibrant fractals. Here are the complete set of features:
* 64bit accuracy * Mandelbrot set * Custom Julia sets (this includes Fatou Dust) * 7 Colour Palletes (Cycle without redrawing) * 3 Colour Styles (Cycle without redrawing) * Successive Refinement Rendering * Only calculates unknown pixels when moving * Draw with the stylus a new view from any two points on the screen to zoom to that view.
For future builds, dev TheMagnitude plans to let you take screenshots. Thankfully. What's the purpose of these beautiful images if you can't keep use them for wallpapers and the likes? Custom colors and the ability to save coordinates are also planned.
To help you get started with Fractal Junkie version 1.0, ladies and gentlemen, here are the Nintendo DS controls:
* D-PAD: Move 32px * TOUCH: Draw a new view * R/L: +/- Iterations * A: Colour Styles * B: Colour Pallets * X: Toggle precise rendering * Y: Toggle Julia set mode * START: Start over * SELECT: Goto previous image
