Homebrew developers who are tired of waiting for Cygwin to compile all those complicated toolchains you've coded over the past few hours can opt to try out a lightweight programming kit to work on your favorite homebrew projects. Developer jsharrad was able to compile a homebrew SDK which puts together all the important tools and toolchains for developing programs for the PlayStation Portable.
Most of the tools on the premade PSPSDK and Linux toolchain virtual machine compilation was originally taken from the lightweight Linux distribution released by Slitaz, sans most of the non-development related stuff. The good thing about this compilation is that it packs everything into a small and neat package under 100MB.
In addition, you'll also need to pick up any of the popular virtual machine software available for download on the Internet. It's free to download, although you'll need to look for a version which will allow you USB access.
Anyway, please make sure to have at least 2GB of space left on your hard disk once you copy all the necessary software, since this will take up a lot of space. We highly recommend you read the discussion of this homebrew compilation on the QJ.NET PSP Development forum for detailed instructions on how to install everything into your PC.
